The Bernese Mountain Dogs ("Berners") are working dogs
with origins from the farm areas of Switzerland. The breed was
rescued from near extinction by Professor Albert Heim around the
turn of the century and the population of the breed has increased
slowly since that time.
Bernese Mountain
Dogs are large, heavy animals, tri-colored and thrive in cold
weather. Although they are large ( 23-27.5 inches and 80-110 lbs)
they have sweet characters and are outgoing, affectionate dogs who
love children. Berners are versatile dogs that enjoy competition,
obedience, agility, herding, pulling carts and tracking. Bernese
Mountain Dogs are also known to be good therapy dogs bringing cheer
to others. Although the dogs are versatile, they are individuals so
they aren't good at every event!
Kelly's Bernese Mountain Dogs is located just outside of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Contact Tammy by
